VIDEO: Hewlett Basketball Holds Hoops For Hope Fundraiser

The team donated money to two charities at the game while simultaneously raising more money for the cause.

The Hewlett High School boys basketball team held its annual Hoops for Hope fundraiser during Friday night's varsity and JV games against Division Avenue High School.

Two separate $1,000 checks were presented to SIBS Place and Long Island Cares before the varsity game began. Money was also donated throughout the night through sales of food, drinks and t-shirts. A free-throw shooting contest was also held at halftime, with several members of the audience matching the money raised during the contest.

Hewlett's varsity squad won the game 66-50.
