VIDEO: Sixth Graders Build Pond at Woodmere Middle School

Students get a break from the classroom on Friday to construct an ecosystem.

sixth graders were plucked out of the classroom on Friday and put to work with shovels, boulders and gravel. And at the end of the school day, they had helped build a pond — with a working waterfall — right in their school.

The project is part of a program called Ponds for Kids. Construction was led by Mout Sinai-based AquaFX, which donated the day to build the display.
