Video: Two Five Towns Students Named Intel Semifinalists

Lawrence student and Rambam student earn recognition for science research projects.

Two students of Five Towns schools last week received the prestigious honor of being named semifinalists in Intel’s national science research competition.

Nathan Akhavan, 17, of Plainview, a senior at Rambam Mesivta, and Abraham Killanin, 18, of Inwood, a senior at Lawrence High School, each won $1,000 for their projects in the Intel Science Talent Search. Both aspire to become doctors. Killanin said he wants to become a pediatric neurologist.

In all, Intel awarded 57 Long Island students.
