Woodmere Coach Gets the Gold in Israel

A Woodmere man helped lead the United States 18-and-under men’s basketball team to gold at the recent 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Elliot Steinmetz served as assistant coach to the U.S. team, which dominated its tournament, ending with a perfect record after beating nine other teams during the three-week competition.

“The experience coaching at the World Maccabiah Games is one of the most rewarding I have ever had, both from a basketball and cultural perspective,” Steinmetz said.
