Five Ways to Stay Cool in the Five Towns

With temperatures on the rise, locals will be looking for modes of refreshment.

It's a scorcher out there! Or at least it will be for the next two days.

According to Weather.com, the high temperature for Saturday is expected to hit 92 degrees, with the low being around 74. There's a 40 percent chance of rain as well. On Sunday, the high is expected to be 84 degrees, with a low of 71. The chance of rain sits at just 10 percent.

We have some tips on how to stay cool on this scorching weekend.

  2. Grab Something Cool to Eat: There's no shortage of food places to go for a refreshing snack in town. To check out some ice cream and candy stores, click here.

  4. The Beaches: While Jones and Long Beach Beaches are nearby, there are several others on Long Island if you want to remain in your air conditioned vehicle for a longer drive.
  5. Jump in the Pool: Head on down to North Woodmere Park and enjoy the refreshing pool. The hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
