Is it okay to take pictures while you are dress shopping?
This question comes up more often than it should. There are the people who ask before they take the implicit photo of the gown that they might be considering, and then there are the people who try in the hardest way to distract the sales consultant and snap a quick photo when they think they are not looking.
But we know what you're trying to do. All this does is create an awkward moment and can spoil a good appointment.
Here's the thing — just like anything else, taking a photo really doesn't get you to remember the gown all that much. If the dress isn't exactly your size and it needs to be tailored, you are not getting a true look. We are in the technology era and most gowns can be found online somewhere.
But there are still some designers that feel tradition and old values are necessary in this huge industry — I agree!
This is someone's livelihood and passion — if the one time in your life you are going to keep surprises, let it be this time. Sharing with everyone or comparing isn't really going to alter your perception. If you remember it and love how it feels — no photo is going to change that.
Let tradition speak for itself.
Vassa :)
