Fourth Annual 5K Supporting Disabled Israeli Vets Set for Sunday

Race begins at 10 a.m. in North Woodmere Park.

North Woodmere Park will be filled with runners and walkers this Sunday who are supporting disabled Israeli veterans.

The fourth annual Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans’ 5 Towns 5K Run/Walk will once again support Beit Halochem, which provides rehabilitation, social, sports, and recreational facilities to disabled Israeli veterans. More than 600 people participated in the event last year.

The race begins at 10 a.m., but it’s recommended to come early since the police will be closing surrounding streets at 9:45 a.m. and to have a chance to grab a t-shirt. Registration for the 5 Towns 5K is $25 and $10 for the children’s fun run and can be done online at www.5towns5k.org. Participants can also register the day of the race from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Volunteers for the run/walk are also needed. Anyone interested can contact the race director at 5towns5k@optonline.net.

Bagels, snacks and drinks will be available at the finish line — but bring your own cream cheese, said race director Isaac Seinuk.
