JCC Food Pantry Receives Large Donation

Organization given 200 frozen chickens in time for Passover.

Ellen Warshall, coordinator of the ’ Kol Ditzrich kosher food pantry, displays some of the 200 frozen kosher chickens that were recently donated to help those in need enjoy Passover.

The poultry, which was donated by an individual who wishes to remain anonymous, was in response to recent about the rise in the number of families accessing the food pantry.

The poor economy and higher prices for such essentials as food, gasoline and home heating oil has forced many families who are struggling to turn to the food pantry for help. Located at 1012 Central Avenue in Woodmere, the pantry presently serves 267 families throughout the Five Towns community. 

The JCC’s kosher food pantry is always in need of monetary gifts or donations of non-perishable, shelf-stable kosher food items to help less fortunate neighbors in the community.

To drop off food or personal care items, call the Kol Ditzrich kosher food pantry at 295-5678. For monetary contributions, please make checks payable to the JCC of the Greater Five Towns Food Pantry, 207 Grove Ave., Cedarhurst, NY 11516.
