The Inwood Civic Association hosted its annual Citizen of the Year dinner on Saturday at the .
This year's honor was given to , secretary of the association, volunteer with the and the founder of a new organization, eNVy, named for her son Nicholas, who passed away last October.
Before the presentation of the award, a letter from Vacchio's son , who is currently training in the U.S. Marine Corp., was read.
During her acceptance speech, Vacchio stressed the importance of community service.
