Meet the Candidates, Costume Party

Here are some things coming up this week:

  • The League of Women Voters will host a meet the candidates night with people running for positions on Town of Hempstead board and Nassau County Legislature. It starts at 7 p.m. at Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library.
  • Tuesday will mark one year since Hurricane Sandy touched down in New York. Look out for our coverage.
  • Receiver of Taxes Donald X. Clavin Jr. will be at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
  • There will be a Lawrence High School PTA meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
  • There will be a lecture/performance on musician Harold Arlen on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Peninsula Public Library.
  • Franklin Early Childhood Center's Fall Festival takes place on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
  • Valley Stream Mom presents the third annual "Wear it Again" Costume Party on Saturday at 5 p.m., which will features contests, prizes, treats, crafts, and a "Thriller" dance tutorial and performance.
  • There will be a class reunion for the 1967 through 1969 graduates of Lawrence High School at Lawrence Yacht and Country Club on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Warren Levi Martial Arts will host an open house on Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
  • Get your youngsters some etiquette lessons this Sunday at noon at Rock Hall Museum. Reservations required.
