NY Rising Workshop, Rock Hall Fair, Community Chest 5K

Here are some things coming up this week:

  • New York Rising, a state program for storm reconstruction, will hold a public workshop on Thursday at 7 p.m. at HAFTR, located at 44 Frost Ln.
  • The Hewlett-Woodmere Board of Education will host a budget session at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a regular meeting at 8 p.m.
    Other Hewlett-Woodmere events: The Hewlett Elementary School PTA will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday; Central Council PTA will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Woodmere Education Center.
  • There will be a Lawrence Schools PTA meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. High school parent-teacher conferences take place at 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday. 
  • Peninsula Public Library events: A lecture/discussion on current events will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. "How to Maximize Eligibility for College Financial Aid" will be held at Tuesday at 7 p.m. An illustrated art lecture, "The Allure of Venice" can be seen on Thursday at 1 p.m. The library trustees will meet on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Pierrot Consort will play at the library on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (tickets required)
  • Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library events: the library board of trustees will meet on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. A film screening of "Superstorm 2012" will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Members of the "Knights" will perform on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (tickets required)
  • The 28th Annual Rock Hall Country Fair, featuring colonial sights, pony rides, and music, takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The Five Towns Community Chest 5K Run & Family Walk will begin on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
