The all-local, all-volunteer force of the Inwood Fire Department has been serving the community since 1887. The large department has 13 trucks and three boats at its disposal. The force also boasts a large number of Spanish-speaking members, which is of a great help to the diverse population. The Doughty Boulevard headquarters have housed the department since 1927.
