That Newsmax article constantly says this is a way to circumvent the Constitution. But since theRead More Constitution grants states the right to award their EC votes any way they want, this is perfectly legal. A state could decide to award its EC votes based on a contest. Have the Democratic nominee and the Republican nominee guess how many jelly beans are in a jar. Closest one gets the EC votes for their party.

EXTEND!!!! It's pathetic that we as citizens allow the people who have never had to use socialRead More benefits decide whether we should be allowed to use what we all pay for every week of our labor out of our paychecks. Tell me one person on Capital Hill who has ever lost a job and had to use the Unemployment System until they found another? I bet its very small number. Yet we give them the decision making power to rule on our lives? Why? They receive full medical coverage, lifetime jobs for some, insane pensions that the working man/woman could only dream of, yet they do not work a full year like the rest of us? These are the people who we want representing our everyday issues? Not in my opinion. Time for this country to ORGANIZE!!! It's us against them it seems. Very sad day to be an american when you see our government coming off the rails and there is no answer in sight.

We had MAJOR gas shortages and lines in Long Island after Hurricane Sandy. Like him or not, Gov.Read More Christie initiated odd/even days in NJ and the shortage ended. A few days later King Andy copied Gov. Christie and our lines also went away. We need leadership, not wealthy copy cats who act like a king. I luv NY, but I don't luv King Andy. Also we need term limits in both the NY & Federal senate/house.

The last one we did was the 911 Memorial, Trinity Church & Cemetery, the NYSE, the Federal Building (where Washington was sworn-in as President and where the Bill of Rights was written; cap off this trip with a meal at Fraunces Tavern.

Tony January 31, 2014 at 07:21 pm
I'm tired of hearing all these idiots complaining of a 'living wage' or 'I can't support myRead More family...' Or 'I've got a college degree...' Granted, in 2014 paying someone $7.25/hour for just about any job is being extremely cheap, not to mention greedy for most businesses but giving those at that level a 33% increase over 1-3 years is equally absurd. Most minimum wage jobs are meant to be entry level, for high schoolers or even retired people. The pay is so low because the job requires NO skills. Also, courtesy of the current president's policies, there is an over-abundance of unemployed & underemployed and thanks to his brilliant healthcare socialization we'll have more underemployed as more & more businesses cut employees hours as has happened to hundreds of thousands already. The employers have the upper hand in this market. Once we get a change in economic policy that actually encourages business & growth, labor will have the upper hand and employers will have to offer better wages & maybe even real benefits to lure the best workers. Just because you have a degree, that doesn't entitle you to a job or a good paying one. Depends on numerous factors, specifically--demand! How many people are already doing that job and is it in demand? All this isn't to say there aren't greedy business owners out there. Such as those who pay minimum wage or barely above it while treating their employees like trash while they rake in tens or hundreds of millions in profit & try to raise the bottom line on the backs of their employees. Those are the kinds of people unions were made for.

What a crock of bs and what a shock, a very liberal piece done by a liberal organization trying toRead More portray a liberal as a moderate. Has America really become this stupid to believe this nonsense? Cuomo the moderate. Right. Though I will admit he doesn't appear to be as far left as his father but being in Tampa now I'm not quite as aware of day to day NY State stuff as I once was. And a wide political divide in NY? Really? It isn't news that a Republican won the county exec seat in Nassau once county residents had their fill of trying something different. The character that is now mayor of NY is a real piece of work, kind of a cross between communist and socialist but yet just a little further left than tyrant Bloomberg though not much (who was quite successful claiming he was a Republican and then an Independant but was really his own brand of dictator). Ap, you never fail to let me down but is it really necessary for the Patch to simply regurgitate their propaganda?
