Owner of Sandy-Destroyed Atlantic Beach Deli Launches New Eatery

The owner of an Atlantic Beach deli that was destroyed by Sandy has opened a new burger eatery in his hometown of Oceanside.

“After many years in the food service industry right here on Long Island, I am truly excited to bring BurgerFi to the community that my family and I live in,” said Mark Sarro, BurgerFi managing partner, “as well as looking forward to seeing all my old friends from the Corner Kitchen and making many new ones for what I am sure it will be a favorite neighborhood eatery for many years to come.”

The BurgerFi franchise began in Florida, with the opening of the Oceanside location — at 3115 Long Beach Rd. — on Tuesday marking the all-natural burger chain's debut on Long Island. Two future locations are planned for Long Island — one in Deer Park and a second in Woodbury.

According to a release from BurgerFi, the chain will bring “a modern and healthy twist to the classic favorite roadside burger stand of the 50s and 60s, serving great-tasting food made from all-natural ingredients in a beautifully decorated fast-casual environment that features environmentally sustainable elements like recycled furniture and fans that use 66 percent less electricity.”

BurgerFi says it has reinvented the burger from the ground up, standing apart from what it refers to as the other "better burger" franchises.

BurgerFi burgers are made from all-natural Angus beef from cattle that are humanely raised, 100 percent antibiotic and hormone free, and sustainably farmed. The made-to-order menu also includes a tremendous variety of specialty items like Wagyu Kobe beef hot dogs, quinoa vegie burgers, hand-cut fries and onion rings, a variety of specialty toppings, gluten-free options, frozen custards, natural cane sugar sodas, craft beer and wine, and more.
