NEARBY: Cops Hunting Masked Burger King Robber

Masked man swiped cash from register and fled Sunday evening, police reported.

Nassau County Police are searching for a man they say robbed an Oceanside restaurant Sunday evening.

According to detectives, a man entered a Burger King and ordered a hamburger. He then left the store and returned minutes later wearing a mask, cops said. He placed a second order and when the cashier opened the register, he walked around the counter and swiped an undisclosed amount of cash, police reported. The man got into a a black Honda with tape covering white New York State plates and fled down Weidner Avenue, witnesses reported.

The incident happened at Burger King at 3190 Long Beach Road in Oceanside at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, cops said.

No customers were present at the time of the robbery, police said. Four employees were present at the time of the robbery but none were injured.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
