Community Coalition: Now is Time for Our Community to Unite

Dov Herman and Nahum Marcus also make post-election statements.

The following is a press release from the Community Coalition of the Five Towns:

The Community Coalition of the Five Towns applauded the winners of Tuesday’s Lawrence School Board election and it pledged to work with board members for the benefit of the community.

“We congratulate Dr. David Sussman and Michael Hatten on their victories,” said Joshua Schein, CC5T’s organizer. “We also wish to commend Tova Plaut and Jesse Lunin-Pack, irrespective of the outcome of that race.”

“Our community has always been united by its deep desire to do what is right, more than it could ever be separated by temporary differences of opinion,” Schein said. “It is now time for our community to unite behind our common goals — to do what is right and best for our children, our families, our neighborhoods and our community.”

Schein added, “CC5T will work with our community and school board to move ahead in a constructive and positive manner. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all voters and each of our dedicated, hard-working volunteers and supporters.”

Schein also praised candidates Dov Herman and Nahum Marcus, who CC5T supported in the school board race.

“CC5T’s parents and property owners are proud to have stood behind Dov and Nahum — men of principle, courage and conviction,” he said. “Dov Herman and Nahum Marcus always endeavor to do their very best for our children and our community. They will undoubtedly continue to be active and involved in making our community a much better place.”

Dov Herman — Post-Election Statement

I want to congratulate Tova Plaut and Jesse Lunin-Pack on their successful school board campaigns. Both candidates demonstrated their commitment to our community. I also wish to applaud Dr. David Sussman and Michael Hatten on their respective wins.

From the start, I promised to run a clean, organized campaign that everyone who participated could be proud of when we were done. We met that goal. My campaign with Nahum Marcus also helped to shed light on key issues and important concerns that are vital to our community. In these regards, I consider my campaign a success.

I would also like to thank everyone from our community who stood up and gave their unwavering support for my school board candidacy. I sincerely appreciate the hard work from our many active, dedicated volunteers behind the scenes. Without each of them, we could not have come this far.

Nahum Marcus — Post-Election Statement

I would like to offer my congratulations to Michael Hatten for his successful return to our school board. I want to congratulate Dr. David Sussman, Tova Plaut and Jesse Lunin-Pack for demonstrating their commitment to our children, our community and our school district.

I would also like to extend my thanks to the members of our community who supported my re-election and to the many dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly behind-the-scenes with Dov Herman and me. Each of you can be very proud of your effort to bring about positive change in our community.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our community for allowing me to faithfully serve its best interests for the past six years. It was an honor and a privilege. Finally, I would like to thank my wife Devorah and my family for putting up with my very challenging school board responsibilities.

Rest assured, I will continue to be an accessible, vocal and steadfast advocate for the best, most cost-efficient public school education and for high-quality services for special-needs children throughout our community.
