Cedarhurst Touts 'Midnight Madness' a Major Success

An estimated 3,000 shoppers made their way down to Cedarhurst on Saturday night for the annual Midnight Madness event, when more than 70 stores offered discounts.

“The annual Cedarhurst Midnight Madness event was just that — ‘madness’ (in a great and profitable way),” said Village Trustee Ari Brown. “With thousands of shoppers and patrons filling every one of our 10 parking fields and 1,800 parking stalls, we have demonstrated once again that Cedarhurst is the greatest success story of Long Island. It just doesn't get better than that!”

Teri Schure, executive director of the Cedarhurst Business Improvement District, said she has never seen Cedarhurst like it was on Saturday night, when businesses would normally be closed.

“I was told by many of the merchants that their business that night was amazing,” she said. “The streets were packed, the stores were packed, the restaurants were packed and all of the lots and street  parking were at full capacity. I’d like to know what other local towns, cities or villages can boast bringing in anything close to that kind of traffic.”

The BID’s next event will be its Black Friday Weekend. Stayed tuned to Patch for details.
