Five Towner to Compete in 'Israel Olympics'

A Five Towns native went to Israel this week to compete in the 19th Maccabiah Games.

Chuck Vine, a 1991 graduate of Lawrence High School, is playing for United States soccer team in the Masters category. The team’s first game was played on Friday against Great Britain.

“It means a lot for me to represent the USA, but being a lifelong Five Towner is a badge I wear with pride,” Vine told Patch.

Vine, who works as president and sports agent at Titanium (Ti) Sports & Marketing, was a member of Lawrence High School’s only undefeated soccer team, he said.

The Maccabiah Games, which take place every four years, are often called the “Jewish Olympics.” Its goal is to boost Jewish pride and the State of Israel.
