Five Towner to Compete in 'Israel Olympics'
Chuck Vine, a 1991 graduate of Lawrence High School, went to Israel this week to compete in the 19th Maccabiah Games on the United States Soccer team.

SD 15 Playgrounds to Soon be Repaired
A New York State Legislative Bullet Grant will be used for the repairs at the playgrounds at the Number Four and Number Six schools. The work will take about three to four months to complete given the lead times for ordering the equipment. 

For 'Iron Men,' It's Swim, Bike, Run, Lift, Eat, Sleep...Repeat

Zomick's Passes July State Inspection
After failing nearly 60 percent of its inspections from 2005 to 2013, Zomick's Bakery passed its second consecutive inspection from the state's Department of Agriculture and Markets Tuesday afternoon.

Five Towns JCC Names New Director
Joel Block, who previously served as the executive director and CEO of the Suffolk Y JCC in Commack, has been named the executive director of the JCC of the Greater Five Towns.

County Launches Wastewater Treatment Plant Advisory Committee
County Executive Edward P. Mangano Friday ordered the establishment of the Hurricane Sandy Wastewater Treatment Plant Advisory Committee. The 14-member committee will be charged with reviewing the plans and the progress of work at the County’s wastewater treatment plants.
